Blogging in 2025

Blogging in 2025

For years I had a picture in my mind about my personal blog as a seedling. Every new blog post represented a drop of water which helped the tree to grow. Upon publishing a piece, not much was visible, but I knew that over time the seedling would grow into a tree and would provide shade or just be gentle on the eye. Writing was something inherently positive and future-oriented. When I finished a piece I always felt that I beat procrastination; I am the one who delayed gratification and won the marshmallow test. The reach of the post didn't even matter. I derived my greatest joy from thinking through a topic and creating something new. Something new that will have a long future. ...

Why I'm Not Ready to Optimize for AI (Yet)

Why I'm Not Ready to Optimize for AI (Yet)

I usually share lessons driven by my experience tinkering on the internet. Sometimes I write because I have something to say, other times because I learn through writing. Over the past few months, I've been unusually quiet—and AI is largely to blame. I don't enjoy philosophizing about practical subjects like SEO, but sharing my experience might be valuable as we navigate this shifting landscape. This piece captures where I stand today, though I'm certain my views will evolve. ...

Lessons from Six Years of Writing Online

Lessons from Six Years of Writing Online

Every year, when the renewal notice for my domains lands in my inbox, I pause. Is it still worth it? In 2025, where AI churns out content faster than ever, and readers scroll past essays in favor of bite-sized videos, the fight for attention feels more daunting than ever. The landscape has shifted, but does that mean writing no longer has a place? In the last 6 years, I shared the ups and downs of my journey in a few pieces: ...

Marketplace SEO Insights from 3 years and 9 marketplaces

Marketplace SEO Insights from 3 years and 9 marketplaces

In 2020 I had enough of the SEO agency life. Doubling with 15-20 websites at the same time was stimulating but it didn't leave room to get deep into problems. I wasn't happy with the results I was able to produce with superficial audits. I was fantasizing about what devoting all of my time to one website would bring to the table. An opportunity from Adevinta, a European online classifieds leader found me during this time. The next 3 years were something I couldn't even dream of when I got onboarded as the SEO Specialist for Hungary. ...

What I learned from Writing Without Bullshit

What I learned from Writing Without Bullshit

Bad writing is frustrating for the reader and useless for the writer. It doesn't get the job done, it is not able to evoke interest or convey the message it is supposed to deliver. You can tickle the box in your productivity app which says "publish the article" or "send e-mail" but doing the busywork doesn't lead to a meaningful outcome. I have all of the problems above due to my lack of training in writing and the bad influence of creating long-form SEO articles for years. I am often putting too many unnecessary words into my articles and send e-mails that even I wouldn't want to read. ...

Biggest Ghost Websites & My Favourite Newsletters

Biggest Ghost Websites & My Favourite Newsletters

Ghost is a modern blogging platform with built-in membership functions, a newsletter, and a clean design that comes with great page performance and SEO. I am running this blog on Ghost for a while now and have written an honest review about the experience earlier. Today I want to take inspiration from big websites using Ghost and share my favorite newsletters with you. When you pick a tool - be it note-taking software or website CMS - you join an ecosystem. Every tool got its own constraints, capabilities, and communities. ...

From capturing to creating demand with writing

From capturing to creating demand with writing

Before jumping right into the overcomplicating, graph-inventing, best practice cursing part of my thought process, zoom a little bit out and see why the topic of creating demand versus capturing demand with your writing is important. Create demand like an Oscar-winning movieA strange movie with the strange “Everything Everywhere All at Once” name just won seven Oscars. I picked this movie this summer to watch because simply there weren’t any interesting alternatives in the cinema and I wanted to eat popcorn. ...

On how AI might change SEO

On how AI might change SEO

I feel a little bit tired. As an SEO I got used to constant change. Algorithm Updates come and go, organic traffic spikes and decreases, Google adds one more rich result to wipe out the traffic of organic searches, or big G adds a new requirement like Core Web Vitals. I came to the conclusion that SEO is the river you can not step into twice. This river makes the passenger's job every year a little bit harder. You need to find the shallow waters, you need to be more clever, and you need to swim faster. ...

Creating Under Your Name vs Building a Creator Brand

Creating Under Your Name vs Building a Creator Brand

I am in the team “do it under your name” for the last few years, but it does not mean that I did not try the dark side of content creation. I am the uncrowned king of buying random domain names, publishing five blog posts, and starting a new project a few weeks later. Having skin in the game and putting my name on my thoughts helped me to write consistently and have moderate success with blogging. ...

My stupid simple Google Analytics 4 setup

My stupid simple Google Analytics 4 setup

According to the official announcement, Universal Google Analytics will stop processing data after July 1, 2024. Even the smallest websites need to decide whether they add GA4, make the move to a new platform, or go forward without measurement. I jumped on the Google Analytics 4 bandwagon when I started this blog. After the announcement of the GA sunset, I also moved my old blog (which had years of regular analytics data) to GA4. ...
